Spotlight on Golight: 2010 NTEA “Work Truck Show”

This spring, Golight, Inc. once again participated in the 2010 NTEA “Work Truck Show” held in St Louis. The show is “North America’s largest work truck event” with 475 exhibitors related to the industry. It is a great opportunity to see what’s new in trucks and accessories and to touch-base with many of our dealers, distributors and end user customers. We get to see folks from all over North America who we usually only talk with by telephone. I appreciate the work ethic, innovation and friendliness of our customers and the seeing all of the people and the products they have developed at Work Truck Show strengthens that admiration.
We introduced the Smithlight, portable area work light, to a receptive audience. The Smithlight is a handy work light with LED light heads and a rechargeable battery. It’s a lot of fun to show the light and listen to people brainstorm new applications for the light. The business applications for the utility, cable, telecom and rail industries are numerous but then people are thinking of uses at their homes, farms and recreational activities. For example, a utility line(wo)man mentioned how great it would be on their farm during calving season. I guess she had been up late the night before delivering calves and wishing for more light.
The truck industry is making many innovations related to the “green revolution.” To meet this demand for innovation, the lighting sector has moved to LED lighting technology for many applications. The LED typically has a lower power draw plus durability and longevity advantages. Golight, Inc. is moving that way, too, but with the HID (High Intensity Discharge) light coming first. Where our lights are typically used as search lights or spot lights for a long distance work, the HID has the power to project light a great distance. This summer we will introduce the HID version of our remote controlled lights. More information on the HID light from Golight, Inc. will be available soon. The LED version is next and that information is also forthcoming.
